Colonel Dmitry Nikolaevich Fonarev (Дмитрий Николаевич Фонарев) is a retired KGB 9th “Kremlin-9” Directorate (9 Управление) HQ senior officer (today's FSO Federal Protective Service (Russia)).〔U.S. News & World Report - Page 23 2007 "The most important KGB idea is that everything has to be under control," says Dmitri Fonarev, who worked in the 1980s as a KGB bodyguard for then Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev."〕

==KGB career==
After graduation at the Technical midschool, he started his military career in military 1984. He went to the KGB High School in the 1985-1989 and he graduated in 1987 as an aircraft technician and became lawyer. He did research in security theories and strategies, and helped develop the Grey shadow's bodyguard club. In 1981 he worked for the KGB 9th Directorate Government buildings security detail and later in 1982 for the KGB 9th directorate Personal protection detail (Heads of the USSR state Yury Andropov, Konstantin Chernenko, Mikhail Gorbachev, Party Politbureau, and all governmental visits security service, trips and cover events). In 1987 he was part of the USSR Prime Minister Nikolai Ryzhkov personal protection team at an official visit to India. Also in 1987 he was part of the personal protection team at the Reagan-Gorbachev summit in Washington DC. Cufflinks on behalf of the US President Ronald Reagan. PSO for the USSR Red Army Marshal Sergey Akhromeyev. In 1988 he was the chief-commander from the antiterrorist group for the US President official visit to Moscow. And received a KGB Chairman Personal gratitude. In 1989 he was the KGB 9th Directorate headquarters senior officer. And officer in charge of the personal protection team for the US State Secretary James Baker's official visit to Moscow. In the period of 1987-1989 he made official contacts with the US Secret Service and Department of State Security Service. Around August 1989 he received a KGB resignation.
